| Census data shows that between 1960 and 1970 Scott County
lost population. The population loss can be attributed to the migration
of the population out of the area. This out-migration was due to to limited
employment opportunities. However, there was a strong shift in population
during the 1970's. Between 1970 and 1980 Scott County gained 4,497 people,
a percentage increase of 27.1 percent. This growth in population is attributed
to the strong revitalization of our local economy and retirees moving back
to their home county. According to 1990 census, Scott County's population
was characterized with 49.2 percent for males, and 50.8 percent being females. |
