Available labor includes: 1) Discouraged workers- persons who want jobs but have given up searching because they do not think they can find work. To be classified as discouraged, one must have searched for work during the prior year and be explicitly reported as currently available for work; 2) Unemployed workers- persons who did not find work at all during the survey week and were currently available for work; and 3) Partially unemployed- persons who worked less than full time during the survey week. Data used in producing these estimates comes from the monthly Tennessee Labor Force Estimates Summary, the Monthly Unemployment Insurance claims reports, the 1990 census, and national unemployment statistics.
